If you hadn’t guessed by now, Greg and Colleen are big fans of travel! Getting a change of scenery, and photographing their clients outside of Central New York is one of their favorite things to do, so when asked, we will almost always try to accommodate! Recently, we had the pleasure of working with new clients Mike and Sarah, in a city near and dear to them; Jersey City!
We met up with the amorous couple, and their friendly pup, Skippy, to photograph them in celebration of their engagement, and upcoming wedding. It was beautiful day, just perfect with sunshine and mild temperatures. Skippy was very happy to tag along with us for a few pictures at Hamilton Park, across from their quaint little apartment. After a walk around the park, a restrained Skippy had all he could do from chasing all the park squirrels up the trees! He managed to contain himself long enough for us to get a few great shots of his “parents” outside the picturesque brownstones that framed the perimeter of the park. After a few treats, we bid farewell to our new four-legged friend, as we followed Mike and Sarah to the historic Powerhouse Arts District for a more quiet and urban setting for portraits. The brick, cobblestone streets, rusty steel, and graffiti laden buildings provided a fantastic scene for us to encapsulate their bond into their portraits.
We then took a short drive, to the Liberty State Park where we got some shots of them with the impressive Freedom Tower, and the pretty New York City skyline peeking in from behind them. We were very disappointed that the Historic Ferry Building remained closed from damaged sustained during Hurricane Sandy. But Sarah and Mike didn’t let it get them down. We concluded our afternoon together, as Sarah and Mike shared a glass of wine, with Lady Liberty standing proudly off in the distance. After a few more fun portraits there, we followed the couple into New York City, where we parted ways. Colleen and Greg ended their evening with a breezy ride on the Staten Island Ferry to enjoy the views of the city at sunset. We managed to snap a few photos that we hope to include in a future blog post of our own photographic adventures.
A big thank-you goes out to Sarah, Mike and Skippy, for wandering around with us for the day. We really enjoyed getting to have some fun with all of you, and sharing some fun stories. We are really anticipating your big wedding day next year, and can’t wait to be a part of the celebration! Happy planning to you both!
Le gach dea-ghuí,
(With all good wishes)
