In the world of wedding photographers, we always hope and pray that each couple will have a chance at perfect weather for their momentous day. Fingers crossed for that beautiful light that will make for the most amazing portraits. Mother Nature helps us with that by giving us either sunshine or a cloud softened light that flatters every bride and groom. But sometimes, even Mother Nature cannot compete with a light that comes from within. And that’s just what we had with Ayla and Christopher, as is plainly seen in their wedding photos.
Back in December, we spent a fantastic day with them, in Niagara Falls, as we photographed their Engagement Session. It took only a few moments to pick up on the devotion and connection they have for one another. If you missed our blog post on that session, you can still view it here. After our adventure, we were very excited that in a few months we would be able to follow them along on their wedding day!
The afternoon began with Ayla’s hair appointment with Stephanie at the quaint little Bijou Salon, nestled right in the village of Skaneateles. She selected an elegant curl infused up ‘do, which suited her perfectly. The sun was shining brightly, and a fantastic day was in store for the beautiful bride. After a quick trip back to the bride’s grandparents, an excited and loving family was found patiently awaiting her return. Ayla and her girls quickly slipped into their dresses and shoes, and out the door they flew to meet up with Christopher and his groomsmen at the Grace Chapel of Skaneateles. A very heart-warming and spiritual ceremony, performed by Reverend Barry Sisson, joined the two love birds in matrimony.
Family photos followed in the church, and then we took a short ride to the home of the bride’s parents, for some couple-only portraits. A rustic, handcrafted gazebo provided some shade, and an excellent spot for some cute pictures of Ayla and Christopher. A short walk into the wooded area took us to the grape vine swing, where Ayla and Christopher took turns giving each other pushes. The golden afternoon sunlight shone through the trees, to light their love from the outside. After their portraits, we ventured down to Orchard Vali for their reception. A tasty buffet style dinner was served, and might we add that the pasta with Alfredo sauce was so yummy! The best we’ve had at a wedding to date! After dinner, dancing carried on into the night, with music provided by local Disc Jockey, Jim McVicker. After a day filled with precious memories, the night concluded with an invitation for all of the guests to meet outside, for a release of Chinese paper lanterns, in the couple’s honor. The lit lanterns filled the dark night sky with amber wishes from their friends and family.
Ayla and Christopher, your love for one another doesn’t come along every day. What you have together, is so special, and it shows when you look at each other. We are honored that you selected us to be there with you both, to document your love for future generations to see. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We wish you both all the best in life, and a long, happy, healthy adventure together!
Le gach dea-ghuí,
(With all good wishes)
