We are very excited to get to share this very special Star Lake wedding with you today! We had the pleasure of photographing Liz and Ricky last fall for their engagement session, and were eagerly awaiting their beautiful ceremony on the floating dock!
If you’re not familiar with Star Lake, it’s a very quaint lake nestled on the Northwest edge of Adirondack Park, where these two actually fell in love. So it made perfect sense for them to have their wedding celebration at the very location where their story began. When we arrived, it really felt as though we were embarking on a camping trip! Set on private property, it actually felt more like a summertime haven for those looking to relax in the great outdoors. Many perfect little cabins, wooded trails, and a perfect beach for their guests to witness the two exchange their vows.
Though the rain came through shortly before, it stopped precisely in time for their ceremony, held on the floating dock. The bride, escorted by her parents, arrived at the beach where the bridal party joined them. The rain held out long enough to see them through their ceremony, and formal photographs that followed.
But even better was what happened after the rain started again! They really weathered the storm so elegantly under the tent, with a fantastic dinner served up by the ever famous Dinosaur Bar-b-que! Feel free to be jealous, because the food was outstanding! Despite their full bellies, their family and friends had no problem rocking the dance floor through the night. One Night Stand delighted the guests with live music, right out of the garage, and even the pouring rain didn’t seem to wash away anyone’s ability to have a great time!
Before the night came to a close, we managed to sneak Liz and Ricky off for a quick portrait to commemorate the weather as being a part of their day. They say its good luck to have rain on your wedding day, but Liz and Ricky are such a great match for each other, that we suspect that “luck” will have nothing to do with a long and happy marriage for them.
Congratulations to you both! Liz and Ricky, planning and having a great wedding and celebration is no easy task, and you two nailed it, especially by doing it from afar! Your choice to be married at Star Lake was perfect in every way, and we couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of it with you. Thank you so much, for inviting us to share this journey with you, and we wish you nothing but happiness throughout your lives, together!
Le gach dea-ghuí,
(With all good wishes)
