Lourdes Camp Engagement Session, Skaneateles, NY ♥ Martha & CJ

We just adored Martha and CJ’s engagement session at Lourdes Camp, in Skaneateles! It was a delightful fall afternoon and the perfect place to have their session, with all of the leaves changing colors!Lourdes Camp is situated right on Skaneateles Lake at Tenmile Point, where the scenic views from the beach are just breathtaking! They brought along their cute, furry little friend, “Boo”, who totally wanted to steal all the thunder away from them, right from the very start! He tried so hard, too! He was just so cute, that we couldn’t help but let him have a little bit of attention. The dry summer that turned into fall left the creek bed nice and dry – a perfect place to put these love birds for a portrait! Boo really didn’t give up on being the center of attention. In fact, he even upped his game as the session went on. But, Martha and CJ still managed to keep in a romantic mood despite the antics of their four-legged fur baby. Especially with the campfire, and some cuddles to keep them warm. Our time with them came to a close when the skies opened up and the rain that threatened the session all day finally made an appearance. But we didn’t mind a bit! What an awesome session this was, Marth and CJ (and Boo, too)! We really had a great time, and the two (or three) of you were so easy to work with! We are eager to be there with you again next year for the wedding! Le gach dea-ghuí, (With all…

Elmwood and Onondaga Parks Engagement Session, Syracuse, NY ♥ Lauren & Dan

Lauren and Dan’s Elmwood and Onondaga Parks engagement session was just perfect on a lovely autumn day in Syracuse. Native to Syracuse, Lauren and Dan felt right at home at our first stop in Elmwood Park. With a shortage of rainfall this summer, the water levels in the creek were nice and low so we took advantage and went right down into the creek bed for some portraits. In addition to its pretty creek, the stone steps are another beautiful feature of Elmwood. We then took the short drive over to Upper Onondaga Park.Well-known for its pond, and gazebo, the park made the front of many postcards. We think that Lauren and Dan made the park look pretty good that day, and would make a nice postcard all on their own!Ahh, the beautiful sunlight! Most people seek the variety of colors that the foliage brings in the fall. As photographers, the colors are lovely, but the true beauty is that warm, romantic sunlight. It makes even a black and white photograph “shine”.And of course, who could “overlook” the views of the city, and the iconic Carrier Dome? Nothing like being able to capture a portrait in front of a city you know and love so well and these guys looked pretty adorable doing it! Thank you for hanging out with us for the afternoon, Lauren and Dan! And for choosing us to join you on your wedding journey! We look forward to being there for the big day next summer! Congratulations! Le gach dea-ghuí, (With all good wishes) Colleen & Greg Be…

Wedding at Longfellows, Saratoga Springs, NY ♥ Stefanie + Jason

Writing wedding blogs is most often a bittersweet task. When we connect with great clients, and the wedding day arrives, we are excited, charged, and sometimes even just as anxious, since we want nothing less than a perfect day for them. Most of our clients book engagement sessions with us, and build relationships for often times a year or more. Our journey with Stefanie and Jason began over two years ago, as they planned their wedding before a big move. We planned for their engagement session to take place right before, and had a wonderful evening with them and captured some of our favorite images. If you haven’t yet seen the images from that session, you can find them here.  So now, as we put together their wedding blog, though it’s a happy and joyous occasion, it brings with it a little sadness, since we know that our journey with them will soon be coming to a close. BUT, let’s not dwell on that – instead let’s focus on the beautiful day they had in Saratoga Springs! Stefanie and Jason, through no fault of their own went through some twists and turns in their wedding planning. Including a date and venue change, which they did flawlessly. Their decision could not have been better and their wedding at Longfellows was even better than I think they ever could have imagined it. With everything right on-site, there was little stress, except for the threat of rain, which passed in just a few minutes. Their outdoor ceremony was ideal with cooler temperatures, and…

Engagement Session at Watkins Glen, NY ♥ Alexa + Ryan

No, you’re not seeing double again! We enjoyed another trip back to Schuyler County for Alexa and Ryan’s engagement session at Watkins Glen! It’s so ironic how many things we have done twice this year, and that’s not the only similarity with this couple. You’ll have to wait for the next blog post to see what we mean. The best part about Watkins Glen is that even though we photographed two engagement sessions there in the same week, there is so much there to enjoy, and both sessions were completely different! One of the biggest differences in the sessions was without a doubt, the temperature! Though Alexa and Ryan look so adorable in their portraits, they hid the fact that it was FREEZING the day of their session quite well. Okay, so maybe there wasn’t snow, but the threat was there, and their poor baby Great Dane, Calypso, had a hard time staying warm. Three month old, Caly, had on such a cute sweater, but even that didn’t keep her from shivering. Mom and Dad nuzzled up to her, in an effort to keep her toasty, but we had to keep her part of the session brief so she could get back to the warm car with “Grandma”. She sure was a cutie though, and one of the best behaved puppies we’ve had the pleasure of photographing. Alexa and Ryan enjoyed a little champagne toast to celebrate their engagement, and a little snuggle time of their own. I’m not quite sure what it is about the ladies always wanting to…

Ronnie Brower – 600 lbs to Success

Almost four years ago, we had the pleasure of meeting a very special person, while shooting a wedding. We didn’t know it yet, but the chance meeting of a wedding guest, would earn us the privilege of watching him become an inspiration to so many, including us. Over the course of the five and a half years we have been photographing weddings, we have encountered thousands and thousands of people, but Ron was not one we would soon forget. Not only was he the only guest to ever successfully photo-bomb a shot, but he was also one of the funniest guys to ever catch the garter. When we met Ron, he was already morbidly obese, but not yet at his highest weight of 675 pounds. It had already begun to impact his life in negative ways. His health was declining, he was relying on pain pills and alcohol to cope, and he was well on his way to being a shut-in. He could barely walk, and only for very short distances. He was unable to work, leave his home, or even enjoy a social life. Almost two years ago, Ron faced the stark reality that he would likely die before his 30th birthday, if he didn’t make some major life changes. After a visit with his physician, those words hit home, and he knew he had to do something, if he wanted to live. Through a series of fortunate events, Ron connected with two local trainers, Nick Murphy and Jill Rupert of Mission Fitness, who helped him to turn his…

Engagement Session at Chittenango Falls, Cazenovia, NY ♥ Amanda+ Tim

An engagement session complete with a sweet couple, and fly fishing at Chittenango Falls on a beautiful summer evening? Don’t mind if we do… There’s really no better way to say it… Amanda and Tim are really a photogenic and outdoorsy couple, so their choice of Chittenango Falls for their engagement photos was spot on! And it was the perfect excuse for us to make a trip to one of our personal favorite waterfalls! One of Colleen and Greg’s first photo adventures together started out here in 2009! You can see one of the fine art images that resulted from that trip and hangs in our home office, here on Greg’s website, Earth Through The Lens (also known as ETTL for all you photo geeks). Their love for Upstate New York, nature, fly fishing, and of course each other, made for a fantastic session. You can tell by the way that they looked into each others eyes, that they almost forgot the photographers (and other park patrons) were around. We really enjoyed wandering around the park with them, and getting a glimpse of how much love there is between them! It was pretty hot day, and perfect weather to hop in the water to cool off. And a nice humid day, makes for a very foggy, happy accident, when you pull your polarizer out of your steamy pocket, as seen in the last image here. Amanda and Tim, we can’t wait to see what you have in store for your wedding day in just a couple of months! With this…

Engagement Session at Inner Harbor, Syracuse, NY ♥ Megan + Pat

Now, here are a couple of troupers for you. Not only did these two bundle up for one of the snowiest and coldest days and places for an E-session, but they also missed an SU basketball game just to come out and play with us! Many folks have a little (or a lot) of anxiety about having their photos taken. Not Megan and Pat! They were like naturals for the camera, despite the bitter cold. Our first stop was at the Inner Harbor in Syracuse, where in the summer there’s a lot of activity and enjoyment. The day we met up with them for their session, we were pretty much the only crazy people there. And with good reason! But Mother Nature gave some pretty nice snowflakes for our trouble. We warmed up (okay not really) with some photos by the bridge, until some snow throwing broke out. The snow was not good for packing, and it was quite evident that Pat was not a huge fan of the gesture. No worries, Megan got her fair share of some snow in the face, too. It was all in good fun, and after Megan managed to clean Pat up, we headed over to the old loading building for a few more photos of the love birds. By that time, we all needed a little warm-up, and headed out to Baldwinsville for some good hot chocolate and coffee while we waited for dark to come. Once we thawed out, we went to one of our favorite landmarks – the Baldwinsville bridge! After…

Wedding at Plymouth Congregational Church & Justin’s Grill ♥ Abby + Brendan

The weather could not have been more perfect on the day Abby and Brendan were married! A nice sunny day, but not too hot, or too cool! Our couples always seem to be so good at ordering great weather for their wedding days, and these two were no exception! Last fall, we had a very awesome time with these guys on their engagement session, complete with “Johnny”, the couple’s four legged friend. To revisit their session, visit our blog post here. Fast forward ten months to their August wedding… When Colleen arrived to document the preparations for the bride and her girls, everyone was relaxed and excited at the same time. A bored “Johnny” waited out back on the picnic table, for his chance to get in on the celebration.  An already pretty Abby, slowly emerged into a stunning bride with the help of her makeup artist and hair stylist in the company of her mom and bridesmaids. Meanwhile, Brendan and his gentlemen arrived with Greg in Armory Square, to kick off the celebration in style, at the Blue Tusk Pub. After a few drinks, it was time for Abby and Brendan to meet at the sanctuary in the Plymouth Congregational Church, where they would hear the sermon of Reverend Quinn Caldwell. After a beautiful service that included some laughs, some tears, and a lot of love, Abby and Brendan were joined together in matrimony. After a few family portraits at the church, the couple and their bridal party rode happily to Upper Onondaga Park, where a very impatient “Johnny”…

Engagement Session at Otisco Lake Park in Marietta & The Charlie Major Nature Trail in Skaneateles ♥ Abby + Brendan

It was a perfect day when we met up with Johnny to celebrate Abby and Brendan’s engagement, with a portrait session.  Johnny was very excited to get the session underway, and decided that to get things going he would start with a quick dip in the water at the beautiful Otisco Lake, in the town of Marietta. While he scampered around to check things out, we took some shots of the couple by the water, with the backdrop of autumn’s colorful foliage. The Otisco Lake Park provided us with some beautiful trees for the couple to get some fantastic portraits!  Johnny’s nearby “singing” kept Abby and Brendan in good spirits as we snapped away. After a while, we took the short drive to visit the Charlie Major Nature Trail, in the quaint town of Skaneateles.  A rustic bridge at the entrance of the trail was a great place to get some more shots of Abby and Brendan. They were naturals, and at times, I think they forgot we were even there. Poor Johnny, waiting in the truck was a little less patient. We heard him calling for his owners and decided to let him join us for a few more portraits. He rarely let them out of his sight so he was happy to be back with them. As pet owners ourselves, we understand the bond between animals and their people. And also how they can be so spontaneous! But Colleen was nothing less than surprised when Johnny jumped up on her and completely covered her entire face with his…

Wedding at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park in Syracuse ♥ Roseanne + Sue

We definitely knew when we met Sue and Roseanne that their wedding day was going to be a very special one! When they told us that they would be having their wedding at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park, we knew it couldn’t be any less than unique, fun-filled day! That morning, they started with preparations at the Staybridge Suites in Liverpool, in a relaxed and informal fashion. While the girls readied for their big day, we took some detail shots of their tuxedos, shoes, and other fun details. For their wedding day, they purchased a beautiful set of wooden hangers to hang their coordinating tuxes, and then gifted them to us for our couples to use. Thank you, girls, for being so thoughtful to give those to us! After they completed their final touches, the ladies pinned boutonnières on their Dads and groomspeople, and gave corsages to the Moms, all provided along with the bouquets, by Jennifer Guidera-Eiffe. We then headed downstairs for a few photos in the lobby at Staybridge, before heading out to Franklin Square Park for their formal photos. The ladies had a fleet of 3 limos provided by Caz Limo, which included a limo bus, to escort their bridal party and family for the day. Though local meteorologists had threatened us with rain for the day, Mother Nature always has the last laugh. It was a fantastic autumn day with mild temperatures and plenty of sunshine to brighten spirits, and put everyone in a sunny mood for such a special event. We made our…

Talk about fun? These guys were almost too much! Katie and Taylor were such a pleasure to work with, and their bridal party were good sports too! Running all over Franklin Square in high heels on a chilly day could not have been as much fun for the ladies, as it was for us! We hope you enjoy getting to see a few highlights!  …
