Rustic Farm Engagement Session, Hector, NY ♥ Erika & Dan

You may be questioning it, but Spring is here! And now that we can see the grass again, it means we’re in full swing shooting! A lot of us here in Central New York are feeling a bit of a slump after so many dreary, cloudy and rainy days, but there is one thing that we can say without a doubt – we’re glad it’s not snow! Though it may not have been a traditional sunny warm spring day, Erika and Dan didn’t seem to mind when we met with them for their recent engagement session. They brought along their friendly pups for a few fun portraits at their beautiful farm land in Hector, NY. We had a really great time with them for our first engagement session of 2017, and are looking forward to their wedding this fall! We got a quick sneak peek of their venue, and we’re telling you for sure – it’s going to be breath-taking! Timberlodge at Arrowhead Golf Club Wedding, Akron, NY ♥ Samantha + Ken

Samantha and Ken’s wedding at Timberlodge was a bittersweet end to our 2016 wedding season. Sam and Ken came to us just over a year ago looking for their wedding photographer, and we knew instantly that would love to have them as our clients. They dazzled us with their sweet love for each other when they met us in Lake George for their engagement session last October. One year later, we met them in Buffalo at the Spring Hill Suites as they readied for what would be an amazing wedding day!Samantha and her ladies were lucky to have the talents of Eva Jewel for their makeup application, and Sue Baker for their hair styling. All of them looked fantastic! Her stunning florals were courtesy of the talents of  I Do Weddings Florist.Their ceremony at St. Amelia’s Roman Catholic Church was followed by an amazing cocktail hour despite the windy chill outside!Sam and Ken’s day was perfect, not one raindrop fell from the sky, while Syracuse and the eastern part of the state suffered through rain and even snow!Sam and Ken worked really hard at putting so much into every single detail of their wedding. And it showed! And their families were absolutely overjoyed by being there to celebrate their day.Saxman Slim knocked it out of the park with his sax, and with his song choices for the evening. There was no spare room on the dancefloor at any given time. They ended the night with a s’mores bar, and a few romantic kisses by the gazebo.Sam and Ken, the two of you…

Lourdes Camp Engagement Session, Skaneateles, NY ♥ Martha & CJ

We just adored Martha and CJ’s engagement session at Lourdes Camp, in Skaneateles! It was a delightful fall afternoon and the perfect place to have their session, with all of the leaves changing colors!Lourdes Camp is situated right on Skaneateles Lake at Tenmile Point, where the scenic views from the beach are just breathtaking! They brought along their cute, furry little friend, “Boo”, who totally wanted to steal all the thunder away from them, right from the very start! He tried so hard, too! He was just so cute, that we couldn’t help but let him have a little bit of attention. The dry summer that turned into fall left the creek bed nice and dry – a perfect place to put these love birds for a portrait! Boo really didn’t give up on being the center of attention. In fact, he even upped his game as the session went on. But, Martha and CJ still managed to keep in a romantic mood despite the antics of their four-legged fur baby. Especially with the campfire, and some cuddles to keep them warm. Our time with them came to a close when the skies opened up and the rain that threatened the session all day finally made an appearance. But we didn’t mind a bit! What an awesome session this was, Marth and CJ (and Boo, too)! We really had a great time, and the two (or three) of you were so easy to work with! We are eager to be there with you again next year for the wedding! Le gach dea-ghuí, (With all…

Rustic Farm Wedding Cherry Valley, NY ♥ Amy + Liam

There couldn’t be a better time for a rustic farm wedding, than in the fall. The colors, the crisp autumn air, sweaters, boots and a roaring fire pit were all just small parts of Amy and Liam’s wedding day that made it extra special, in Cherry Valley.Their wedding color was one that we love and are surrounded by in our every day lives – a beautiful, yellowy-green. Amy’s bouquet has definitely ranked #1 of all the fall bouquets we have had the luxury of seeing. It was so organic and beautiful, and the aroma of oregano only added to its charm. It was the perfect blend of colors, textures, and fragrances that made it the perfect autumn bouquet. Their shoes were also some of my favorites too! This isn’t our first time at Glensfoot. We’ve actually been there 4 times now for 2 weddings, and 2 engagement sessions, and yet each time the property seems to take on the personality of who we’re there to photograph. It was wonderful seeing the Yellow Barn transformed into a cocktail lounge, and the Century Barn turned into a Cinema for the children to be entertained. We have wondered more than once if the walls could talk, what they might say.Amy and Liam took a relaxed and low-key approach to their wedding day. They left behind the worries of modern wedding traditions and embraced a day that was filled with family, friends, love, and togetherness.Dusty, the couple’s dog decided all on his own that he wanted to be a part of walking the bride down the…

Critz Farms Engagement Session, Cazenovia, NY ♥ Caitlin & Edmund

We are so happy to share Caitlin and Edmund’s Critz Farms Engagement Session! We got quite a giggle out of the fact that they were worried about looking awkward in their portraits, especially since they look so natural and fun! We had the farm to ourselves… well mostly. There were some pretty nosey animals, that just had to watch everything we were doing. The goats and the donkeys definitely made their presence known, and gave their approval while we worked. It was nice being able to have their session at a place they have enjoyed spending time at. And while it’s not quite time to start picking out Christmas trees, they sure did look pretty with Caitlin and Ed standing next to them.We finished up their session with a cool shot outside the barn. Their sweet silhouette behind them was a fun little bonus to what was already going to be a dramatic portrait! Thank you so much, Caitlin and Edmund, for spending your evening with us, while we played and had some fun on the farm. A big thank-you to Critz Farms for letting us come by, and giving us some wheels to get around! Really looking forward to working with you two again one year from tomorrow on your wedding day! Lakeside Engagement Session, Ontario, NY ♥ Christina & Conor

We had an epic evening with Christina and Conor for their lakeside engagement session in Ontario. They chose to have their session overlooking the beautiful Lake Ontario, on a privately-owned family cottage. The cottage, nestled in a quiet, wooded area, made for a peaceful and romantic setting for their portraits. No shortage of paths, greenery, and charm, it provided the perfect backdrop for their portraits celebrating their engagement. The lake views were breathtaking, giving the couple something to enjoy, and us some great opportunities to spice up their portraits! The photos by the rocks are some of our favorites – don’t they look so adorable together? The setting sun made for some beautiful warm light, and the skies above the water looked more like paintings. We had such a great time with them, and can’t wait for their wedding next year! It’s always a pleasure to return to one of our favorite venues, and with this sweet couple it’s sure to be an amazing day! Congratulations, Christina and Conor! Rustic, Country Wedding in Hunt, NY ♥ Cortney + Shawn

Cortney and Shawn’s rustic, country wedding was a dream made into a reality, with a lot of hard work, long hours, and plenty of planning. A wedding with this much attention to detail, doesn’t happen without the help of many hands, and loved ones that wanted nothing more than to see their dream wedding come true. They had no shortage on that, that’s for sure! Most often, our clients are from all over the country, and meet with us by Skype or by phone, but we met with Cortney and her mom, and mother-in-law to-be at a Dunkin’ Donuts over coffee while we were on our way to an engagement session, headed in their direction. Though our meeting place was nothing too fancy, we didn’t take too long to figure out how much their wedding planning meant to all the ladies, and how their search for a photographer was at the top of their priority list. Cortney, herself, is a photographer, so she knew and valued the work that goes into what we do. Being chosen to photograph the wedding of another photographer is an honor,  and we were delighted to be chosen to document their day. We finally got the chance to meet Shawn when we photographed their engagement session last fall. If you missed the blog post with their session highlights, you can enjoy those here. Fast forward to the wedding day, the ladies got ready at the beautiful Genessee Falls Inn, where we lodged the night before. Debora, who tirelessly manages the hotel, gave us the grand…

Wedding at The LakeWatch Inn, Ithaca, NY ♥ Elizabeth + Marcus

As wedding photographers, our clients and our work bring us all over Upstate New York, but one of our most treasured favorite places is the LakeWatch Inn, in Ithaca. When Elizabeth and Marcus contacted us in their search for a wedding photographer, we were not only excited to have the chance of photographing there again, we also fell instantly in love with them as a couple. There is just something about them, that makes everyone who’s met them, stop and take pause. Though our first meeting was over a Skype session, everything there is to love about them came through, just in the way they looked at each other. Our first chance at meeting them was when we traveled to Brooklyn for their engagement session. If you haven’t yet seen the images from their session, you can enjoy them here. We started out with Elizabeth at the Satori Salon where the ladies received a little bit of pampering. The King Suite at Hotel Ithaca made the perfect place for Elizabeth to slip into her stunning wedding gown, before heading over to the Cornell Plantations for their “first look”. Their wedding programs predicted it exactly right: Elizabeth was the one in white, and Marcus was the one in tears. But he wasn’t the only one… We then headed over to LakeWatch for the ceremony, and we were excited to see the beautiful new landscaping and walkway that would now be the aisle for their outdoor weddings. Their ceremony was absolutely perfect, and just watching the way they looked at each other…

Wedding at Longfellows, Saratoga Springs, NY ♥ Stefanie + Jason

Writing wedding blogs is most often a bittersweet task. When we connect with great clients, and the wedding day arrives, we are excited, charged, and sometimes even just as anxious, since we want nothing less than a perfect day for them. Most of our clients book engagement sessions with us, and build relationships for often times a year or more. Our journey with Stefanie and Jason began over two years ago, as they planned their wedding before a big move. We planned for their engagement session to take place right before, and had a wonderful evening with them and captured some of our favorite images. If you haven’t yet seen the images from that session, you can find them here.  So now, as we put together their wedding blog, though it’s a happy and joyous occasion, it brings with it a little sadness, since we know that our journey with them will soon be coming to a close. BUT, let’s not dwell on that – instead let’s focus on the beautiful day they had in Saratoga Springs! Stefanie and Jason, through no fault of their own went through some twists and turns in their wedding planning. Including a date and venue change, which they did flawlessly. Their decision could not have been better and their wedding at Longfellows was even better than I think they ever could have imagined it. With everything right on-site, there was little stress, except for the threat of rain, which passed in just a few minutes. Their outdoor ceremony was ideal with cooler temperatures, and…

Wedding at Camp Brockway, Manlius, NY ♥ Marina + Matthew

When we first met with Marina and Matthew for their wedding at Camp Brockway, we could tell right away what a fun-loving couple they were. It didn’t take any effort at all to be excited for them, and for their wedding day. We just knew it was going to be a laid back day with lots of fun and laughter. And might I add, not all couples can pull off a “signature red” for their wedding color, either. These two did it perfectly! Camp Brockway is a rustic venue, nestled in a private, wooded area at Pratt’s Falls, in Manlius. Coincidentally, this is the place where Colleen shot her very first wedding ever, some many moons ago. It was a delight to return there again, now shooting digital instead of film. Not much has changed there, it’s still the same sweet little out-of-the-way place it’s always been. With a place like Camp Brockway, it’s a lot like having a clean canvas, to do with it whatever you like. Marina and Matthew really outdid themselves with all of the wonderful fine details that they crafted! It set the tone for a fun and light-hearted celebration. Their short, but sweet ceremony lead way to an evening of great food, conversation, and lots of dancing! Make no mistake, it was a hot and muggy day, peppered with a little rain, but none of that stopped them or their guests from having a wonderful time. Music was provided by Black Tie Entertainment, and the flawless coordination was provided by Megan of MLH Events, with…

Engagement Session at Knox Farm, East Aurora, NY ♥ Cortney + Shawn

It really was a picture-perfect day for an engagement session when we met up with Cortney and Shawn at Knox Farm! The weather was mild and the unique, rustic park offered a lot of wonderful spots for their portraits. The 633 acre state park allowed us lots of room to explore, and though we wandered around quite a bit, we didn’t even touch the surface! We began their session in and around the horse barn, which was our favorite spot. I bet we could have spent an hour or two in there alone! Outside we found the perfect little apple tree. I couldn’t help but think of the Andrews Sisters song “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” when we asked them for a portrait there. Yes, that happens when you’re subjected to those things as a child! After some shots by the apple tree, we headed back to the red barns, with stops by the greenhouse and one of the many pretty fields, along the way. Once we made it back to the barns, Shawn brought along his other pretty lady – his 1957 Chevy truck. As the sun began to set in the sky, we caught the interest of some nearby wildlife. A few deer in the field were interested in observing the session, but we sadly too far away to have their portrait taken as well. Though there was no clear view of the sunset, the sky gave us some pretty amazing colors to work with. What a great time we had, Cortney and Shawn! It was a…

Wedding at Lake George, Ticonderoga, NY ♥ Kimberly + Michael

Our very first trip to Lake George, Ticonderoga, for Kimberly and Michael’s wedding could not have been more amazing! The weather was perfect, the skies were beautiful, and this couple had such an endearing love for one another, that we could not have been more thankful to be invited to join them. Kimberly and her girls got ready at the family cottage right on the shore of the breathtaking Lake George. Though we’d never seen her as anything but a bride, we can confidently say that her inner glow was beaming on her wedding day. Lexie Voelker provided the makeup and hairstyles for the girls, and they all looked radiant! Relaxed, and focused, both Michael and Kimberly had clearly prepared for this day for a long time. Michael and his groomsmen readied at the Best Western, and then headed off to St. Mary’s Church where they would exchange their vows. Before the ceremony began, Colleen took an opportunity to sneak into the private room to introduce herself to the groom for the first time. She found him in the company of his best man, as they were exchanging a few last minute words, and as he turned to greet her, she met his tearful eyes, as he prepared for what was clearly an emotional and heartfelt commitment. Kimberly was escorted down the aisle by her energetic and handsome son, Noah, who anxiously embraced Mike, as he “gave his Mom away”. Following their ceremony, and some family portraits, Greg sneaked off with the Bride and Groom for a relaxing boat ride,…
